I believe the best photographs happen when you feel comfortable being yourselves (and when you kind of forget I'm even there). My approach balances unobtrusive documentary coverage with gentle direction when needed, allowing your authentic personalities and emotions to shine through.

The Process
It is different for each wedding, but the standard is about 8 hours. This will usually start around 1 hour before getting ready is complete, with coverage ending sometime around dessert/cake cutting. Hours can be added or removed depending on your timeline.
I lean very photojournalistic, directing and posing when necessary. It's the best of both documentary & editorial worlds, and I have my time in photo school to thank for that.
Yes! My second photographer (Nicole) & I have been working together since college, and we can practically predict each other's every move. You're in good hands when we're together. If she's unavailable or if I'm unavailable, I have a plethora of talented folks that I trust to tap in.
There is a $1000 retainer due upon signing the contract, which is non-refundable, as it is used to retain my services. The remaining payments are split up into 2: 90% of the balance is due 6 months pre-wedding, with the remaining 10% due when you receive your images (usually 2-4 weeks post-wedding).
I never turn down an opportunity to travel. I live in North Jersey (think: Sopranos) and only charge for locations more than 2 hours from NYC. Each destination is different, and I'll never make you pay for more than it would be for me to spend a night or two in the area (plus a flight, if necessary).

Melissa is so wonderful! She makes you feel so comfortable taking pictures and not awkward or super posed. Her editing is phenomenal and she’s so quick too.
