If you’re an NYC wedding photographer or an inquiring couple, chances are you’ve heard of this venue. 620 Loft and Garden is an iconic venue in New York located in Rockefeller Center, perfect for any event where you want to showcase jaw-dropping views. The venue overlooks not only Rockefeller Center, but also St. Patrick’s Cathedral. I was so thrilled to be able to photograph here for the first time this year
Surprise Proposal at NYC Rooftop Venue
This surprise proposal / engagement shoot was planned entirely by the groom-to-be and his amazing planner, The Heart Bandits. Upon arriving at 620 Loft and Garden, the florists were hard at work creating beautiful arrangements. Although the wind challenged our ability to keep the rose petals properly in place, it kind of added to the whimsy of it.
When it was go time, myself and the videographer quickly got into place in order to capture their reactions entering the venue. As soon as Rachel and Roger stepped out of the elevator, there was an audible (happy) gasp. She was so surprised, and it made for some seriously adorable photos as they walked down the aisle of rose petals all strewn about.
(Also, Roger’s ruse was that they’d be having dinner on the roof of 620 Loft and Garden. They ended up going to Capital Grille after instead.)
The answer was (obviously) yes! It’s such an incredible privilege to be a part of one of the most important moments of someone’s life. Every time I get to witness an engagement or vow exchange, I swear I feel my heart grow like the grinch. Being with Rachel and Roger for the reminder of the evening is nonstop smiles, laughs, and cuteness. I swear I barely had to try and pose them; they’re that much in love.

Easy to work with, so supportive, and genuinely so excited for these two and their next chapter. I can’t wait to some day soon shoot a wedding up here — it’s for sure still on my wishlist for wedding venues!
